Diamond Aircraft Revives the Iconic DA20i Katana for European Market

Back by popular demand, Diamond Aircraft has announced that the iconic DA20i Katana will once again be produced at its European facility in Wiener Neustadt, Austria. The order books are now open. In response to increased demand from flight schools, flying clubs, and private owners, Diamond Aircraft is restarting production of this two-seater, single-engine piston aircraft, renowned for its performance, reliability and value in training.

The DA20i Katana, constructed in Europe, will be powered by a Rotax 912 iSc3 Sport engine, delivering contemporary efficiency and performance. Significantly upgraded from previous versions, the aircraft will also include the Garmin G500TXi glass cockpit, introducing advanced avionics and a touchscreen interface to the flight deck.

The G500TXi system delivers faster processing, intuitive navigation, and enhanced situational awareness through features such as synthetic vision, terrain awareness, and real-time traffic. These improvements translate to reduced pilot workload, a cleaner cockpit layout, and a more immersive flying experience.

Constructed on a reliable composite airframe, the DA20 series consistently delivers enduring engineering, structural resilience, and years of dependable performance. The new DA20i Katana combines tradition with innovation, making it a perfect option for contemporary flight training and leisure flying.

Although European production of the DA20 series was halted more than ten years ago, the DA20-C1 model has continued to be manufactured at Diamond Aircraft's facilities in Canada, equipped with a 125 hp Continental IO-240-B32B engine. The production of the DA20-C1 in Canada will remain uninterrupted.
