Uzbekistan Airways and Boeing have announced the largest order in the airline's history, as the national carrier intends to acquire up to 22 787 Dreamliners. Uzbekistan Airways' commitment includes the purchase of 14 787-9 aircraft, with options for an additional eight of these highly efficient jets. This acquisition will modernise the airline's Boeing widebody fleet and contribute to the support of nearly 35,000 jobs in the United States.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of the Republic of Uzbekistan, alongside executives from Boeing and Uzbekistan Airways, participated in a ceremony to mark this confirmed order during the United Nations General Assembly. Additionally, Boeing and the Uzbekistan Ministry of Transport formalised a Memorandum of Cooperation to explore opportunities for further expansion of the nation's aviation ecosystem.

"The Boeing 787 Dreamliner family has proven to be the cornerstone of our long-haul operations," said Uzbekistan Airways Chairman Shukhrat Khudaikulov. "With this new contract, we are further strengthening both our airline's and our nation's position as a leading aviation hub in Central Asia, while providing our passengers with greater global connectivity. This step reaffirms our ambitions and strategic commitment to sustainable growth."

Uzbekistan Airways, the pioneering operator of the 787 in Central Asia, utilises its fleet of 787-8 aircraft to establish connections with markets across Europe, Asia, and the United States, including a direct service to New York City. The introduction of the 787-9, with its enhanced capacity and extended range, will allow Uzbekistan Airways to further expand its international routes to the U.S. and other long-haul destinations in response to the growing demand for international travel.

"We value our nearly 30-year partnership with Uzbekistan Airways and will continue to support their growth strategy as they further connect the region and world," said Brad McMullen, Boeing senior vice president of Commercial Sales and Marketing. "With its fuel efficiency and operational flexibility, the 787 Dreamliner will help Uzbekistan Airways expand into new markets, connecting more travellers to their rich culture."

The 787 Dreamliner series is renowned for its fuel efficiency, versatility, and passenger comfort, allowing airlines such as Uzbekistan Airways to establish new routes and expand their service to additional destinations. With its advanced aerodynamics, composite materials, and innovative systems, the 787 reduces fuel consumption by 25% compared to the aircraft it replaces.
