Qatar Airways' Historic Order for up to 210 Boeing Widebody Aircraft

Qatar Airways and Boeing have announced an agreement for the airline to acquire up to 210 widebody aircraft, marking a new milestone as Boeing's largest widebody order to date. This includes the largest order for 787 Dreamliners and represents Qatar Airways' most substantial order in its history. The purchase also encompasses additional orders for Boeing's new 777-9 model. This significant transaction is expected to support approximately 400,000 jobs across the United States and strategically positions the acclaimed Middle Eastern airline for continued international growth.

The order includes:

  • 130 787 Dreamliners, the long-range, ultra-efficient widebody aircraft family, has achieved a 25% improvement in fuel efficiency compared to the aircraft it replaces, while offering enhanced passenger comfort. Previously, ten orders were recorded as unidentified.

  • 30 777- 9s, The world's largest twin-engine aircraft is engineered to establish new benchmarks in efficiency by decreasing fuel consumption and emissions by 25% compared to the aircraft it succeeds, while enhancing the passenger flight experience.

  • Options for an additional 50 787 and 777X aircraft.

U.S. President Donald J. Trump and His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, were present alongside Boeing President and CEO Kelly Ortberg, Boeing Commercial Aircraft President and CEO Stephanie Pope, and Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer to observe the signing of the order.

Qatar Airways currently manages a fleet of over 150 Boeing aircraft, comprising 777 and 787 passenger jets as well as 777 Freighters. This acquisition will position Qatar Airways as the leading operator of the 787 Dreamliner in the Middle East.
