ExecuJet has been appointed as the sole Fixed Base Operator (FBO) at Sydney International Airport, a move that reshapes the business aviation landscape at Australia’s primary international gateway. The strategic appointment follows a rigorous, multi-stage evaluation of leading international FBO operators and underscores Sydney Airport’s ambition to partner with a provider capable of delivering a premium, future-focused service offering for VIP passengers, crews and private aircraft operators.

Selected for its proven operational expertise, strong safety culture and reputation for service excellence, ExecuJet will assume responsibility for the full spectrum of FBO services at Sydney. These include aircraft handling and coordination, ramp operations, passenger and crew services, customs and immigration facilitation, and concierge support. Centralising these functions under a single operator is expected to improve efficiency, enhance capacity and raise service consistency at one of the region’s most complex and tightly managed international hubs.

For ExecuJet, the appointment represents both a vote of confidence and a strategic opportunity to shape the future of private aviation in Australia. Sydney is among the busiest airports in the Asia-Pacific region, balancing heavy airline traffic with growing demand for business and VIP aviation. With sole-operator status, ExecuJet is positioned to invest with greater certainty in infrastructure, equipment and people, while working closely with airport authorities to develop facilities and processes tailored to the specific needs of high-end business aviation.

Patrick Hansen, Chief Executive Officer of Luxaviation Group, described the appointment as a clear endorsement of ExecuJet’s long-term commitment to the region. “Being appointed as the sole FBO operator at Sydney International Airport is a strong validation of ExecuJet’s capabilities. It allows us to elevate service standards, invest with confidence, and respond to the evolving needs of operators and VIP passengers at one of the world’s most important international airports,” he said.

ExecuJet’s story began in South Africa in 1991, when the company was founded at Lanseria International Airport in Johannesburg. Initially established as a specialist provider of business aviation services, ExecuJet quickly built a reputation for professional ground handling, maintenance support and bespoke services for corporate and VIP operators at a time when dedicated business aviation infrastructure was still emerging in many parts of the world. From its South African base, the company expanded steadily into Africa and the Middle East, laying the foundations for what would become a truly global FBO and services network.

The group’s international growth accelerated through the late 1990s and 2000s, with the establishment of FBOs and handling operations across Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Australasia. This expansion transformed ExecuJet from a regional player into a recognised global brand in business aviation services. In 2015, ExecuJet became part of the Luxaviation Group, one of the world’s largest business aviation services organisations, further strengthening its operational scale, financial backing and global connectivity. Today, while operating on every major continent, ExecuJet retains its identity as a company that grew from African roots into a worldwide provider of premium services. This origin story resonates strongly with its long-standing presence in Australia and the wider Asia-Pacific region.

To support its expanded mandate at Sydney International Airport, ExecuJet has committed to significant investment across people, infrastructure and equipment. Plans include the recruitment of additional operational and guest services personnel, the introduction of new-generation ground handling equipment, and the phased redevelopment of existing FBO facilities in close collaboration with Sydney Airport. The objective is to create an end-to-end FBO experience that matches global best practice while reflecting the specific operational realities of Sydney’s constrained and high-traffic environment.

Darren McGoldrick, Vice President Asia Pacific for Luxaviation Group, noted the importance of Sydney as a regional gateway. “Sydney is one of the most important aviation hubs in the Asia-Pacific. This appointment reflects the confidence placed in ExecuJet’s local teams and operational capabilities. Working closely with Sydney Airport, our focus is on delivering a redefined FBO experience that supports operators, crews and passengers, while building a strong platform for the long-term growth of private aviation in Australia.”

ExecuJet’s performance record lends weight to these ambitions. ExecuJet Sydney was ranked the No. 1 FBO in Asia-Pacific and fourth globally in the 2025 AIN Survey, a reflection of consistent service delivery, operational reliability and high levels of client satisfaction. In an industry where reputation is built on small details executed flawlessly, such recognition is more than a marketing accolade; it is a competitive differentiator.

As business aviation demand continues to evolve in the region, driven by corporate travel, government operations and high-net-worth mobility, ExecuJet’s sole-FBO appointment at Sydney International Airport positions the company at the forefront of that growth. For operators and passengers alike, it promises a more streamlined, premium experience, proof that, even in one of the world’s busiest airports, there is still room for a little VIP treatment on the tarmac.
