The Cessna SkyCourier Combi configuration kit recently achieved certification from the National Civil Aviation Agency of Brazil (ANAC) and joined the fleet of Brazilian charter company Cleiton Táxi Aéreo (CTA). This marks the first delivery of the SkyCourier into South America.

CTA has recently received a passenger version of the twin-engine, large-utility turboprop, which comes equipped with conversion kits. These kits allow the standard 19-passenger interior to be reconfigured into either a 9-passenger and cargo Combi layout or a full freighter configuration. Additionally, the aircraft is fitted with an optional gravel kit, enabling it to land on unpaved runways and reach more remote areas. CTA's order includes two Cessna SkyCourier aircraft with the same configuration, with the second delivery anticipated in 2026.

“The Cessna SkyCourier is an excellent aircraft to support regional missions and services across South America,” said Lannie O’Bannion, senior vice president, Sales & Marketing. “We look forward to seeing the impact this versatile and hardworking turboprop will have on CTA’s operations.”

Established by Cleiton Sérgio de Sousa, Cleiton Táxi Aéreo initially engaged with Textron Aviation by acquiring the Cessna 210 Centurion in 1995 to commence charter services throughout the Amazon region. Since that time, the company has operated a diverse fleet, including the Cessna Caravan and the Beechcraft King Air, each aircraft serving a range of specialised missions and charter operations in the area.

The Cessna SkyCourier recently celebrated the fifth anniversary of its prototype's inaugural flight in 2020. Since entering service in 2022, the aircraft has established itself as a vital asset for both cargo and passenger operations. Notable achievements include the first delivery to Canada and the initial order from the Marshall Islands, among others.

The freighter variant is designed to accommodate up to three LD3 shipping containers, boasting a payload capacity of 6,000 pounds. The 19-passenger version features dedicated crew and passenger doors to facilitate efficient boarding, along with large cabin windows that provide natural light and views. Both configurations are equipped with single-point pressure refuelling, allowing for quicker turnaround times.

The SkyCourier is equipped with two wing-mounted Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-65SC turboprop engines, complemented by the McCauley Propeller C779. This robust and dependable 110-inch aluminium four-blade propeller features full feathering with reversible pitch, optimising the aircraft's performance when transporting substantial loads. The SkyCourier is operated using Garmin G1000 NXi avionics, achieving a maximum cruise speed exceeding 200 knots true airspeed (ktas) and a maximum range of 900 nautical miles.
