Archer Aviation has made a significant move to transform transportation in one of the fastest-growing areas in the United States by revealing comprehensive plans for a fully integrated electric air taxi network across the Miami metropolitan region. Announced on December 3, 2025, the company's vision is to link Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton, and West Palm Beach with swift 10–20 minute flights, significantly cutting travel times and avoiding the area's notorious traffic jams.

The planned network aims to provide quick and efficient transportation between South Florida's three main international airports, Miami International (MIA), Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood International (FLL), and Palm Beach International (PBI), along with several important general aviation centres. The objective is to create an integrated, multimodal mobility system that improves regional accessibility and boosts economic competitiveness.

To realise this regional network, Archer is collaborating with major real estate, infrastructure, sports, and entertainment stakeholders in the area. These partnerships integrate purpose-built vertiports with current aviation-ready infrastructure, speeding up the deployment of electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) operations throughout South Florida.

Related Ross, under the leadership of developer Stephen Ross, intends to construct a dedicated vertiport in its prominent downtown West Palm Beach development. This location is anticipated to become a crucial northern hub for Archer’s network, supporting the region's rapid commercial and residential expansion.

In Miami-Dade County, Magic City Innovation District, developed by Dragon Global and Plaza Equity Partners, will host another new vertiport. Positioned in the heart of Little Haiti, the smart city district is envisioned as a magnet for technology, culture, talent, and next-generation urban mobility.

Meanwhile, Archer will leverage existing helipads at two of South Florida’s most recognisable destinations: Hard Rock Stadium, home to the Miami Dolphins and numerous global sporting events, and Apogee Golf Club, an elite private golfing venue in Hobe Sound. Both facilities will be upgraded to support electric operations, giving Archer immediate access to premium, high-traffic locations.

Miami Mayor Francis Suarez, a long-time advocate of advanced air mobility, praised the announcement as a milestone in the city’s quest to remain a global innovation capital. “Miami has never been afraid to bet on the future,” Suarez said. “Archer’s air taxi network embodies the Miami mindset: we lead, we innovate, and we redefine what’s possible.”

Stephen Ross, also the owner of the Miami Dolphins, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the transformative potential of eVTOL services across the region. “Our partnership with Archer marks a pivotal step in expanding South Florida’s regional connectivity through cutting-edge technology,” Ross said. “We’re embracing a forward-thinking vision that will transform how people and businesses move across the region.”

Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava emphasised the environmental and operational advantages for Miami International Airport.“Air taxis like Archer’s Midnight will help reduce congestion, cut emissions and build a transportation system that works for everyone,” she said. “We at MIA are future-ready.”

Jordan Rathlev, Executive Vice President of Related Ross, added that the initiative places South Florida “at the forefront of pioneering advanced mobility solutions,” while Dragon Global founder Bob Zangrillo noted that integrating air mobility aligns directly with Magic City Innovation District’s mission to develop a next-generation urban ecosystem.

Archer’s Midnight aircraft is central to the network’s rollout. Designed as a piloted, four-passenger eVTOL, Midnight is optimised for high-frequency urban operations. It can perform rapid back-to-back flights with minimal charging downtime, offering a practical and scalable alternative to traditional road travel.

Midnight offers a mobility solution by replacing lengthy 60–90 minute car rides with quiet, emissions-free air taxi flights that take just 10–20 minutes. This solution is not only fast but also sustainable and cost-competitive.

The swift expansion of South Florida has intensified the demand for its road infrastructure. Archer's proposal emerges as city planners and business leaders are actively exploring innovative solutions to enhance mobility. By leveraging purpose-built vertiports and existing aviation facilities, the company intends to swiftly and efficiently launch electric air taxis for public use.

If successful, Archer's Miami network could serve as a model for integrating advanced air mobility with urban development and as a blueprint for similar networks globally.
