ACSA Airports Recognised as Some of the Best in the World

Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) is doing a happy dance because Cape Town International Airport and King Shaka International Airport have just strutted their stuff onto the list of top airports worldwide at the 2025 Skytrax World Airport Awards.

Cape Town International Airport just pulled off a hat-trick of awesomeness, nabbing awards for Best Airport in Africa, Best Airport Staff Service in Africa, and Cleanest Airport in Africa.

King Shaka International Airport in Durban has just been named the Best Regional Airport in Africa, showing once again that it's top-notch when it comes to providing smooth and customer-friendly airport experiences.

The 2025 Skytrax awards took place on Wednesday, April 9th, 2025, at the prestigious Passenger Terminal EXPO, which was held in the vibrant city of Madrid, Spain. This annual event is renowned for recognizing excellence in the airline and airport industries, celebrating the achievements of companies that have demonstrated outstanding service and innovation.

“These awards, based on feedback from passengers of over 100 nationalities, who evaluated their experiences across more than 575 airports globally, are a reflection of the dedication of our teams and the faith that passengers continue to place in our airports,” said ACSA CEO, Mpumi Mpofu. “Our goal is to provide a seamless, safe and enjoyable travel experience for all who pass through our airports. These recognitions affirm that we are on the right path and inspire us to continue raising the bar.”

In another nod to excellence across the ACSA proclaimed network, the InterContinental Hotel at O.R. Tambo International Airport snagged the title of Best Airport Hotel in Africa, highlighting ACSA’s dedication to offering travel experiences that go beyond just the terminal.

Skytrax runs the biggest yearly survey on how happy travelers are with airports, covering 575 airports in 100 countries. Passengers share their experiences at over 575 airports worldwide from August 2024 to February 2025. The survey looks at important performance markers throughout the whole passenger experience – from check-in, arrivals, and transfers to shopping, security, and heading to the gate.
