The East Rand Flying Club held its annual Fly-In Breakfast on August 5, 2017, enjoying ideal weather conditions.

Springs Airfield (FASI) is a registered airfield leased from the local municipality, situated at 5,340 feet above mean sea level. It features a tarred runway that is 1,100 meters long, oriented 03/21. Additionally, there is a grass cross runway with a 14/32 orientation.

The airfield operates without control, and nearby traffic utilizes the 122.4 MHz radio frequency for TIBA and circuit communications. Just as in previous instances, Paul Sabatier successfully managed the landing and parking of over 40 arriving aircraft.

As usual, the breakfast at the clubhouse was fantastic. Tables were arranged on the veranda and on the grass, and every table was occupied by hungry pilots. I heard that the club had prepared for 200 aviators, and since I was at the flight line taking photos, I was among the last to have breakfast, with most of the food already gone. Kudos to the club members for doing an excellent job of feeding us all.

As evident from the photographs, a wide variety of aircraft arrived, including Motor Gliders, Slings, RVs, Trikes, Microlights, Gyros, the Dornier, Cessnas, the Alouette, the Jodel, Cubs, and many others, both old and new.

The breakfast Fly-in was a tremendous success, bringing together old friends and fostering new friendships, all united by their shared passion for aviation.
