About the event
GEMS has it's origins in the old Eeastern Thermal Busters (ETB) club. The club was formed in November 2009. We are situated about 5km from Bapsfontein on the R25. (see Google Maps here).
Although our members also dabble in electric models we fly thermal planes exclusively at this venue. We have a healthy core of competitive pilots and will also soon (2012) be the hosts for the FAI F3J world championships.
